beginner needs help - tie rod end '91 100

If it was me replacing the end I'd probably remove the whole tie rod
from the car.  Especially if the old one hasn't been loosened for a
long time and the car has seen some winter weather.

Once you loosen the lock nuts you need to whack the tapered sleeves to
back them off ... only then can you start trying to unscrew the end. 
I'm not sure, but seem to remember there are some reverse-threads
involved in this job.

By removing the rod from the car you have a much better chance of
assembling it with the same length as the old one and minimizing the
urgency for a new alignment.
