bizarre stalling behaviour 87 4kcsq fixed!!

Found the vacuum leak, it was a biggie. the short rubber hose for the
crankcase vent was cracked. A couple wraps with duct tape will hold
her till tomorrow when I can get to napa for the right stuff. I almost
positive the mixture was messed with to compensate, the little plug
was MIA, throttle bypass screw was all the way out when i brought it
home. I'll save that for the weekend when I have more time to fool
with it. Anyway, thanks all!
