Bernie, is that you?   ;-)   Take your hand out of John's back and
leave him alone.

I've changed fluid on 5 Audis, 4 Q and one FWD, and noticed improved
shifting with all of them.

I've mixed Redline MT90 (straight GL4) with Militec on 2 Q and one FWD
and noticed improved synchro action on each, both immediately and over
time.

Gear oil does deteriorate.  It doesn't require a 3k interval or even a
30k or 60k intervals, but it is worth changing in some cases.
