One would assume the actors and endorsers can plea ignorance. 

They could:    know nothing about automobiles, their function, etc.
After all, they're
                              professional actors, not auto "technicians". 
                     
                    have been unknowingly been given false information. "Hey, I 
                         was hired to describe blah, blah, blah, they
showed me this
                         information, I thought it looked good, etc.,
etc., so I said, hey
                         I'll endorse that. And seeing how they've
lied to the public, how
                         was I to know.".

Don't think you can successfully hold them liable. After all, you have
to legally prove that they knowing lied, and they (the endorsers)
don't need to document their knowledge.

Oh well....
