[s-cars] Coil Replacement Options?

The time difference would be truly negligible. I think the advantage
of separate coils is that at higher engine speeds, the individual
coils have enough time to fully charge, resulting in a better spark.
Also, it eliminates the possibility of the spark jumping to the wrong
electrode, as often happens with the 3b engines at higher power levels.
Separate coils with wires should be every bit as good from a
performance standpoint. The packaging isn't as neat, and there's
undoubtedly more EMI to interfere with the radio as a result of the
leads (read antennas) but the performance should (given equally good
coils) be very similar.
That said, has anyone checked out the coils from late model fords?
They're pretty neat, and could maybe be made to work. There's
probably lots of them in the junk yards already.
