>I second Kneale's opinion, no point buying used winter tires. You're better
off
buying inexpensive but new.
I third that opinion. Seems like most used winter tires are advertised as
"used 1 winter only", which in many cases is less than truthful. Never mind
why would anyone sell them if they're so little used. In recent years I
bought 2 sets of those and both barely made 2 winters, one was high end
H-rated Pirelli 210 and weren't cheap, the other - some low end wintermaster
that even Cooper wouldn't readily admit they made.
With new tires also comes warranty. I recently got pro-rated replacement
from KalTire on 2 Yokohama Gordex damaged while driven through a bad
pothole. Bought them in 1998. 2-3 years ago got the same on 2 5-6 year old
Blizzaks that delaminated, likely of old age. Still amazed what tire shops
sometimes would do to keep customers.
If the car's good and you'll keep it, you save nothing over a few years by
buying used tires. On the contrary, you never get to enjoy new tires, not to
mention piece of mind and such.
