It depends... what car are we talking about? I added
a subject line.
I don't think the wheel bearings have to be removed to
install the struts. You shouldn't need a hydraulic press
to remove the stub axle, either.
But, if you want or need to remove the bearings, you can
do it with a press once the hub is removed, or you can
replace them in place provided you use something like
the Hub Shark. People have responded that the Harbor
Freight tool also works. Search HF for "FRONT WHEEL
BEARING ADAPTORS" or part number 45210-4VGA.
