Hi,

I'd appreciate that BCI Passenger Car chart if you have it handy. I'm also
looking for an inexpensive replacement that will fit in my car.

What kind of Audi do you have? I'm curious as to why the size 41 doesn't
fit under your rear seat? Isn't that the standard size for many Audis ?

There seems to be many that will work fine with Audi 100's...The Interstate
website recommends size 41 and size 91. My old battery is an Interstate
MB66-60 which the Interstate site recommends be replaced with a MT-48.
So...my quest is to find the biggest size that will

a.) fit properly under my seat
b.) a size that is likely to be at Walmart, Costco, or another high-volume,
low cost place

I've already had a quote of $136 for an Interstate MTP-91 and $120 for a
MT-41. Nothing at Walmart costs near that much, AND the Walmart-Everstarts
are rated tops by Consumer Reports...the Interstates are rated near the
bottom...

Thanks again,

Charles

Hi,

I had an AC-Delco that lasted over 10 years, but began to sulfate giving me
enough time to look into the problem. I couldn't find another el cheapo
AC-Delco; Costco quit selling them and I almost bought one of the gel bats
from Costco. I bought a Sears Diehard Weatherhandler Group 42 because the
type 41 wouldn't fit properly in the box under the rear seat. It is not
vented and I worried about for about 2 hours, but it is over 2 years old
with no problems.

Whatever brand you buy, be sure to get the one that is appropriate temp wise
for your location. Sears bats are made by another company, Johnson Controls
maybe?, and they have one for "cold" and "hot" places.

You can get a copy of the BCI Battery Replacement Book which gives
dimensions of most popular types in inches and metrics. FYI:

41 293 x 175 x 175mm or 11 3/16 x 6 7/8 x 6 7/8 inches
42 243 x 173 x 173mm or 9 5/16 x 6 13/16 x 6 13/16 inches
49 381 x 175 x 192mm or 15 x 6 7/8 x 7 3/16 inches

AFA Consumer Reports rating batteries I won't comment; I believe that most
batteries come from a few sources and are rebranded for sale.

The Sears I bought had an 18 month full replacement warranty with 75 months
prorated. I thought that was fair and would give me enough time to be sure
it was okay.

I could copy the BCI Passenger Car chart if you want it for battery sizes;
contact me off list if you want it.

HTH.

Cheers!

Jim Jordan
