Did you replace the cable, and get the battery/alternator checked?

Subject: re: 4000s cranking slow on cold start
I replaced my Starter some months back with the car operating as good as
one would expect.
It started getting colder about 1 month ago and I noticed when I turned
the key there was a long slow gradual buildup of cranking speed until a
full bloom engine firing. Starting warm is piece of cake.
Initial thought was that the Used Starter I got wasn't so great. Had
that replaced a week ago.
Now, as most in the east coast have noticed it got quite cold pretty
quick. The car seems to be exhibiting the same signs as with the older
starter. I go to start the 4000 the other morning and as I turn the key
there's no noise but a very faint slow crank which does eventually build
into a full blown fired start but takes some 30 seconds.
Is there anything else to check? The battery seems OK. I may have the
older starter rebuilt and replaced in time for winter's cold.
any thoughts?
