100 CS Exhaust Noise, Maybe

Good Evening Quattro List:

I have a 94 100 CS Quattro 2.8 V6 I believe,  with about 125K on it.  When I
accelerate the car seems to make an exhaust noise, but only under
acceleration.  I have put the car up in the air and tried to recreate the
noise by accelerating the car while the brake was mashed to the floor, but I
couldn't make the noise happen, so it must need to have the weight of the
car working against it too.  I waas thinking maybe it was a mifiring
cylinder causing the noise. 

Anyone have any ideas?
