Someone has stuffed a V8 into a 90, so it might be possible
to put one in an A4. One problem might be complying with the
federal EPA requirements of not backdating your engine; that
is, putting an older engine in a newer car, thereby bypassing
emissions requirements. Your A4 would require a '97 or newer
A8 engine, with all its electronics. That may not be an issue
for you, but it is something to consider.
