Aside from the typical-car problems (dying alternator, bad
voltage regulator), the Type 44s have long cable going from
the battery to the alternator.  There is a splice in the cable,
in the passenger footwell.  Over time, it corrodes, weakening
the system. You may want to check yours.  Solutions to repair
it are in the archives.
