So on your car the computer runs the timing based on the flywheel pin 
and sensor, right?

Still, I'd be curious what a timing light shows... especially if you can 
somehow measure it while the problem is occurring (elves in the engine 
compartment while driving?  can you make it happen against the brakes?)
