2.7t #1 piston?

I'm not familiar with that engine, so these are general comments...

You might want to go by the flywheel markings - on the old I5, the 
pulley can end up off due to the damper coupling shifting around.

"Sounds like you may be 180 degrees out."

Camshafts get 180 out - #1 is always at the top when the crankshaft is.

Whether it is true TDC (between compression and ignition) or at the top 
between exhaust and intake will get the camshaft(s) either right or off 
by 180.

One more thing, is that if #1 is described as "front right" maybe they 
mean as you look at the engine?  IE, driver's side?
