I had a leak in my Ford truck radiator so big water poured out at nearly
the same rate you poured it in - but it has a 8 gallon capacity. I was
four-wheeling at the time so I high tailed it out of there, found a nearby
church with a hose, filled back up, drove to town, went to the store and
bought a potato. Cut it in half and shoved it on either side of the
radiator where the leak was, filled back up. Had to hammer it down on the
front side, but it slowed the leak significantly. I made it back home (40
miles) with only 2 more water stops - one directly from a river.
Another leak tip - if you are leaking gas, rub soap on the leak, it will go
away. The fix is essentially permanent (the gas makes the soap expand and
get hard!) I have driven a Winnebago with a leaky fuel line fixed this way
for over 500 miles. Emergency source of soap: hotel/motel cleaning cart.
