Springs for 90 200TQ

Springs on my 90 200TQ are pretty weak, both front and rear. I guess with
280K on the odometer that can be expected. Already replaced struts,
bushings, tie rods etc., but still not as firm as it should be. Spoke to
Eric at VW parts, he knows a guy that can make  "street" springs (Individual
specializes in rally suspension). Only stuff I've seen available other than
this is lowering springs. (Living in upstate NY with the snow is not real
conducive to lowering!)

Any other options or ideas?

90 200 TQ
88 80Q (Son)
87 5000CS just rehabbed for other son
87 5000CS parts car (which I put 400K on before selling to my other, oldest
son whom quickly destroyed and returned for parts!)
