Tire fitment 90 200TQ

Thanks to all that replied... Let me clarify my original question.
Have the 205 55 16's on the 200 at present. There is probably a 1/8"
clearance between tire and strut "arm". Meaning a 215 55 16 won't fit.
(taller/wider)
But, 205 60 16 is narrower and taller (3/4") than the 205 55 16's. It's less
than 1/4 taller than the 205 65 15's (and about the same section width) that
were on the car "previously". (The 205 65 15's fit with no problems.)
Looking to drop RPM's a little bit as most of my commute is 70+ mph. This
drop did help gas consumption with the last 15" tires. Not looking so much
at aerodynamics, looking at "engine speed". Don't much care about
speedometer error as I can figure out the difference and compensate (doesn't
hurt to have police as relatives either, haha)
Will probably go with Yokohamas again. Very quiet, balanced well, decent
wear and not too bad in the snow.. (15" rims previously). Plus, price isn't
as harsh as going with Michelins, etc. Keep in mind, I'm not autocrossing,
just setting the cruise and drinking coffee with a little back road action
occasionally!!!
So, back to the beginning.... Has anyone BTDT.... 205 60 16s, 16x7, 45 ET,
Type 44 (10 valve)
Confused yet? :o)

All,
Looking for tires for my commuter, apx 160 miles RT, per day. .
Recently acquired/installed some 16" A4 rims (ET 45) for the 200TQ. The
205-55-16's that came on them are pretty whooped and need to be replaced.
There is sufficient clearance, but are shorter than the tires I had on the
car (The previous 15's on the car were 205-65-15's
Like the taller tires as it slightly drops RPM's, and RPM's equates to gas
mileage!!!
Has anyone tried 205-60 16's? They're just a little taller than the
205-65-15's, but not quite willing to order four than have a problem!
Thanks, Eric
