I can attest that 5000 quattros did indeed come with turbo diesel motors, 
although they were not imported to this country.

I saw one pulling - I kid you not - a 30 foot camper, while on vacation in 
Austria. I believe I have a pic of it somewhere, I'll have to look around.

On a sort of related note, I owned an 84 4000 turbo diesel, which I wish I 
had now, current diesel prices being what they are. That thing got 40-50 
MPG.
