You're getting your lists mixed up.  No such problems with the V8Q
transmission.  You are thinking of the Front Wheel Drive 5K's which
indeed have the problem you described above.  No leak problems on the V8Q
boxes, completely different setup.  Main PITA lead on a V8Q is when the
engines rear main seal leaks...then the transmission has to come out to
change.

There is some V6  specific info in the archives, the last one I saw on a
lift was missing two dipsticks (driver wasn't near car either).

I would go this route too,  many garages offer this service if there's no
trans shop around.  Also spring for the full synthetic transmission
fluid.
