!@%#*! breather hose

As I just posted, I traced a not start condition in my 200 qa over the
weekend to a rotten breather hose (the one that goes down the side of
the block). I fixed it temporarily with piece of copper plumbing pipe,
but has anyone found a better system than the plain rubber (that rubs
against a coolant pipe and has hot oil vapors circulating through it)
hose?
