Typ 89 front subframe bushings R@R question

Well, you guys were right once again. The subframe bushings are OK,
the clunk comes from the steering rack. However, it is not the bulkhead
attachment points but rather the two bolts at the end of the cylinder rod
that hold the tie rod carrier bracket. Under no stress they hold well
but when more force is needed to turn the wheels, i.e. when the car
is stationary, there is some play. Either the bolts need to be tightened a bit,
or something may have fractured. To be on the safe side, I'll dismantle
the whole thing and inspect. At least I don't have to do the subframe
bushings for now!
Thanks for all you help.
