Dan, wiring the radio without the factory plugs is no big deal.  Just make
certain you match up the wiring, and don't be afraid to make a harness.

As for the ipod type of input, you can't use this radio without a
pre-amplification input (FM transmitter, etc.) for a multitude of reasons
(impediance, isolation, lack of amplification, etc.).
