Trunk lid won't open

I tried to open the trunk lid in my '86 Audi 5KTQ to
R&R fuel pump but key won't turn to open it.

I sprayed some penetrant liquid and yet key won't turn
to the right to open.

Mechanism appears stuck/ jammed.

How can I get it opened?

Do I have to, and can I, remove the rear seats as the
only option to access the fuel pump and open the trunk
lid?
