Update:
I finally got the rear brake piston out.
The piston boot had a hole in it. Moisture got in and the area between boot
and piston got crudded up with rust.
I tapped the piston a bit with a plastic hammer and then I managed to turn
it easily enough. The piston end is chewed up from my vice grips. I'll use a
piston from one of the junkyard calipers for the rebuild.
Went to junkyard, and got two rear calipers. Didnt look closely enough and
the two calipers are from a 200 . . .different layout! . . .
!!!$%&#&!$#$ !!
The 200 brake internals should be the same as the 100 internals . . .piston,
e brake lever, etc etc. I'll rebuid the original and keep the other parts as
spares.
I purchased a rebuilt kit which includes the rings, boots, and guide pin
boots for both rear calipers, and grease for the guide pins and grease for
the rubber parts.. Its a TRW/Lucas kit --original part number is SP8992 . ..
renumbered to 443 698 671. My cost was $8 per kit.
I got the E-brake lever seal from a local SKF distributor:
MOTION INDUSTRIES INC
53 B SOUTH JEFFERSON ROAD
WHIPPANY, NJ 07981
973-428-0915
http://www.motionindustries.com
Cost for the seals was $2 and change for each one. Full info from the part
box is "6405 - CR 16X24X7 HMS4 R"
CR = Chicago Rawhide
They took credit card and shipped drop shipped from their warehouse in
another state. I got the parts in 2 days.
The part and size info came from the audifan archives.
Thanks to those who replied with suggestions.

Original message:
The 100q has a dragging rear brake.
Its not the cable, its not the lever. The piston does not return to its
non-parking position.Must be something corroded on the inside. I cant remove
the piston to check out the insides. I got it turned out almost all the way
out, and now its jammed.
I took off a caliper off my 5kq(layed up for exhaust, bomb, bushings) and
installed it in the 100q. Works ok.
The 88 5kq uses 36mm rear calipers.
The 90 100q uses 38mm rear calipers.
Family album says both cars use the same brake caliper - 38mm. Duh!!!!
Both size calipers are interchangeable mechanically.
Can I use the more popular 38 mm in place of the 36mm?
It might give me a bit more breaking in the rear. But, since the
proportioning valve is probably corroded and jammed, I dont think it makes
much difference if the rear caliper is a 38mm instead of a 36mm.
