The only reason I can think of why you wouldn't want to put a given
connector into any given cigarette lighter is that some electrical systems
work with reverse polarity.
I haven't seen anything that describes Porsches as being reverse polarity,
and I've swapped optima batteries from my Audi to my 911 to my Alfa and
back. Someone said Alfas run reverse polarity, but apparently not my '87
spider.
I'm not an electrical/mechanical type person, but my first instinct would
be to get something to test the ends of the machine you want to run and
see which way the current flows...
