I just got done with a head gasket replacement on my 5
cylinder 10V Audi engine with the same symptons you
described in yours, although my car has a different
engine than yours.
Have you done an oil change?
I changed the oil in my car a couple of times and what
came out was nothing but sludge/foam or as my friends
called it; "Irish coffee."
Also, in the case of my car, engine would run on the
edge of overheat (temp gauge) with coolant hoses hard
as if ready to explode.
-Best Regards,
