The correct hose is only around $40-50, does have a bit of a mold to it,
and usually lasts 10+ years.  So unless it's an emergency why bother to
McGiver it?  If you do have to make up a hose, just make sure the hose
you use is designed for negative pressure, a hose designed for positive
internal pressure may collapse if used in a negative pressure application
such as an intake.
