So if any of you remember I got this no turbo no quattro 5k out of a junkyard in December. The story was that I was looking arround for some parts for the fast 5ktq that I lost during moving from FL to here (bad idea...never move a car that is dissasembled!!!), namely all of the alternator mounting brackets and hardware. The guy at the junkyard told me he had a car, but told me I'd be stupid to take it apart. I bought the thing for $250. It had been sitting for over a year and a half (the inspection sticker was 2 years out) in the same spot. I charged the battery and figured I'd take a crack at starting it. The car fired and ran on 4 cylinders on the very first attempt after cranking for no more then a second. Rapping on the injectors with a 17mm wrench brought the last cylinder online. I changed the oil and tires and have driven the car ever since.
Ok now being a red car having sat in sunlight for a looong time the paint apeared destroyed. My father one day decided to try some miracle paint fix crap that I didn't belive in, but I figured it couldn't hurt. It actually took 99% of the white coating, be it oxidation or fade, off and brought that car almost to a shine. Unfortunately I have been too busy to wash the car properly....until last weekend.

Ok seriously, is that not stunning for a $250 junkyard car who's odometer stopped somewhere in 1999 at 174,099 miles (paperword for all oil changed since '97 was found in the glove box) on the clock? The dash has no cracks, the seats are clean (though manual and cloth), and even the cruise control works!
I have been driving this thing 97 miles EACH WAY to work on average 4 days a week, and so far needed only to do a front wheel bearing. NO other repairs at all, but oil changes every 3 weeks and 1 R12 charging. Best car I have ever purchased, even if it is slower then an ice cream truck!
