Forgotten cars that shouldn't be... not for me!

Well Cody, there's more MAC than you think:

- this car was created to compete in the Group B rally category, like
the Quattro, and the rules were quite permitting. There was a
weight/engine size/boost level equivalency rule that allowed almost
anything, hence the Quattro.

- the 1.397 liter was mandated by the 1.4 factor for a turbo engine :
1.397 x 1.4 = 1.96L, just below the 2.0 liter/905kg (2000lbs) rule.

- The Sport Quattro was 2,139 liter for a similar reason, 2.139 x 1.4 =
2.994L, just below the 3.0 Liter/1200kg rule.

- the R5 Turbo was another famous K-jetronic (CIS) fueled engine, very
similar to Audi's system. It was also a 7:1 compression ratio, like the
Quattro.

- the turbo is a KKK unit, might even be a K26 like the one on the
Quattro.

- On some rally cars, they were racing a very expensive (7000$)
water-to-air intercooler. This part was a SECAM intercooler, and was
from an helicopter !

- the drivetrain was a mix of bigger Renaults parts, from the R30 or the
Alpine V6. The Quattro's was a mix of 4000, 5000 and even some VW Iltis
parts.

- And me too, before I get too old, there will be a R5 Turbo in my
driveway. For now, I have 3 of them; 1:43, 1:24 and 1:18.
