4kq temp gauge

Well, depends on how long it's been idling and the ambient temp.
In cool weather my car is ~1/3 from the bottom. In hot weather it will go
all the way to about 7/8ths full scale.
If your fan runs and shuts off and the oil temp is ok don't worry too much
about the gauge reading, unless it's pegged. The Audi gauge is simply more
sensitive (and informative) than your typical temp gauge, which often have
big deadspots engineered in.
The Miata for example will read about 3/8th scale from 7 minutes after
starting until the water temp is over 110C (~230F)- too hot! If it swings
right there's immediate danger.
It's built that way on purpose, to keep people from 'worrying'. Useless.
