On a recent trip to get some beer (two kegs of New Belgium - Fat Tire and Sunshine) from Montgomery, AL to Fort Worth, TX. I got 27.5mpg in my 1997 A8Q with the 4.2L engine. The computer went as high as 29mpg. The 27.5 was actual when I filled up back home and calculated that tank. the other 2 tanks were in the 26mpg range too.
In normal driving I get 21-23 with my fairly spirited driving style, but with long stretches of open road. Not bad for a big 4 door with 300 horses.
I got my A8 last April for 10K, never had a car payment before! Most I've ever spent on a car, but man is it nice!
