hi all
thanks again for the tips.
here is my progress with the 200 tqa 10V
i fixed my boost leak problem.
Following advice and opinions from you guys, I
MacGyvered it.
the problem that i had was in the hose between the
turbo and intercooler.
i had a rubber j tube, a plastic 'silencer' cannister
and a rubber
bellows respectively - turbo to intercooler
the bellows was shot, it was cheap enough (50 odd CAD)
but NLA here. I
found one in Pasadena, but that's on the other side of
the continent.
I used six inches of 2.25" ID reinforced silicone hose
from my local
hydraulic shop with a steel 2" hydraulic hose
connector (push fit on one
side at 2" and threaded on the other at 2.25")
the intercooler inlet is 2.25" and the j tube 2". no
idea why but there
we are.
the above cost me 25 CAD inc tax, but i blew another
26 on some
stainless jubilee clips. in for a penny.....
I have a photo of the bits that I used, should someone
wish to see
(still in the camera at the mo)
Rear windows.
The security switch in the drivers door would pop the
fuse if engaged
to give rear passenger control of the rear windows.
most people suggested the drivers door jam. I had a
look in there and i
was by no means the first to have a fiddle in that
area!
unfortunately it was all ok if not massively pretty
Max Hoepli suggested checking that there was nothing
stuffed in the rear
fag lighter (I'm british).
there was nothing in there, but the unit has a dead
short. I took it out
and it looks perfect, but has 0 ohms between the 2
posts (without the
lighter element in it!)
problem solved then.
i also rebuilt one of the rear callipers and have a
handbrake that works
on 2 wheels now. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I had a lot of practice at rebuilding golf 2 GTI
callipers in the 90s
and discovered that a sykes-pickavant OHC valve
spring compressor is
perfect for getting the spring and circlip back in
place. I can take a
photo of this should there be interest.
Thanks for all the help. I'll be attacking the heater
core and ABS soon,
so 'till then.......
Bye
Geraint
