Hola.

Really if you determine which of the two goes to the pump (I can't remember 
which it is off hand sorry) you don't need to disconnect that one. The pump 
and everything will come out together, I've done it like that a few times 
before. IME the hoses are usually really stuck on just as you say, but I 
have never broken the plastic doohickey trying to get the hoses off. I know 
how you like going to the pick-n-pull though, so go ahead and get yourself a 
spare, then try to get the return line off of yours. If it comes off then 
everything is A-OK, if it breaks the nipple off then at least you can get 
the pump and everything out of the way while you fish for the other end of 
the return line and use the spare plastic tank top when you put everything 
back together.
