Don't forget the air pressure... Pressure times contact area = weight
supported. 

As a fun example, take your car's weight, divide it by 4 and then divide
by the average air pressure in your tires and you'll get an average
contact patch area ! It' only simple physics...

3200 lbs, 32 psi on the 4 corners:

3200/4= 800 lbs by corner.

800lbs/32lbs/square inches = 25 square inches, which is roughly a 8 by 3
contact patch, which makes sense.
