3650RPM at 80mph?

Hey guys,

My dad is out of town so I borrowed his car to take on a short road trip and
was surprised to see that while cruising at about 80mph, the tach was at
about 3650 RPM. This did not seem normal to me, as I am used to seeing about
2200 RPM on my car at that speed... Over about 350mi of road, the car did
fine under these conditions, but burned a bit more gas than I expected. I
started to think that maybe the tranny is not shifting into its' highest
gear? Can someone tell me what RPM I should be seeing at 80 MPH?

The car is a 95 A6Q 2.8l with Automatic Tranny.
