First, listen to the song "1000 Dollar Car" by the Bottle Rockets
on their "The Brooklyn Side" album.
Second, consider that a single ordinary repair can cost as much
and that and, given the car, such a repair would be required in the near
future.
Thirdly consider that you probably don't want your daughter left
at the side of the road which would also occur in the near future.
Finally, consider that making sweeping statements about aesthetics
can a risky play.
