They may have been instant on units. They are only on when you are being
clocked.

I'm behind on my radar gun reading and could use some direction.
On a recent trip around western Canada went a few times through speed
traps (unconsequentilally to me) and my more or less classic, about
10-year old detector remained, somewhat disturbingly, silent.  It's a
Uniden with the X-, K- and Ka freq. bands plus a laser.  Every time it
did not react, it was a stationary device, was still good on moving
cruisers.  So, what is the latest development of radar tech we are
subjected to and how do I compensate for it?
BTW, to complement the road trip thread from a couple of weeks ago -
radar and laser detectors are allowed in west Canada - Sask, Alberta
and BC.
