Radar guns

Well there are several things going on here...
Camera radar I believe is K-band, most gun radar is X-band. And there
is also ladar (laser) guns (although I don't think they are used with
cameras).
So, the detector must pick up the band of radar or ladar being "shot"
from the camera. Even if you /can /detect the signal being sent, the
camera radar is generally shooting radar at close range. So when you
drive into camera range, your radar detector goes off and the camera
takes a picture of your plate before you have time to hit the brakes.
This is only a brief overview of some of the issues with radar. There
is a lot more that I am sure can be found on the web. A radar detector
is only a tool in avoiding speeding tickets. You must know its limits
and use your head to avoid tickets.
