The Syncro Wagon-
Called a 32B Passat in Germany and was imported to the US and UK. Imported
to the US as '85-'88 model years as a Quantum Syncro Wagon. It shares the
same basic driveline an the 4kq with the exception of the rear trailing arm
suspension but the rear differential is the same (excepting some mounting
parts) and the engine, tranny and center diff are the same as the 4kq. Front
suspensions in the QSW and 4kq are the same. Drive shafts are the same too.
After that you get into 4x100 wheel hubs, different brake rotors, hard to
find parts (don't mention fuel pump mounting parts), different exhaust
(exception to sharing the same 4kq jt down pipe) and basic VW finish quality
not matching that of the audi you end up with a VW version of a Audi 4000
Quattro Avant.
Very fun car to drive and offers the wagon utility. My experience says that
it is better in the snow than the 4kq.
