Transfer of (kinetic) energy is also known as "force" ;-)  Ed gets  
the prize though...

The name of the game is spreading out the work  over as long a period  
of time as possible, to get the lowest force applied.  You have a  
50-50 chance of surviving a 50-75G (50= child, 65 = woman, 75 - man)  
'deceleration', according to NHTSA.
