I don't think the muffler shop wanted the job, find another one. From
what I understand from your post, any muffler shop with a pipe bender
should be able to put a flare on the pipe itself and fit a universal
(multi- hole) flange to press it and hold it against the donut. Worse
case just put a reduction adapter in there and weld the pipe to the cat.
