Well, I've driven my 82 cgt down to it dying at about 8.5 volts, it ran 
fine until then, and spent a few days driving my 89 90Q at about 11 
volts, same deal.  But I can certainly see how low voltage might affect 
some cars systems.

However, I realize now that there might be a nomenclature issue here. 
The "power" that the poster mentioned losing might have been 
*electrical* power, not engine power...
