Well,  it's a LITTLE more involved than that....! On the Windstar, you have to  bend your arm a couple different ways if you're lying down, and tend to  get oil all over the place. If the car is up off the ground (i.e., you  can stand underneath) it's much easier. It's worth it to me to pay $30  to have this job done. Besides, all my free time as related to cars is  spent on my '65 MGB restoration these days....  I'd rather do that  than change the oil on my van.
