I was going to mention this - as always, when a gauge reads oddly, don't 
just assume it's a bad gauge, verify the information.  Sometimes this 
can be done by swapping in a known good unit, but there are other ways.

Most auto ships these days have nifty digital infrared heat sensing 
tools that could be used to measure head temperature, or probably even 
the actual coolant temp (at a radiator hose or through an open expansion 
tank cap).
