MC2 knock sensors

Hi,
some of you may remember my adventure from Montreal to
Niagara and back
a few weeks ago.
The upshot of that was the CEL coming on at over 3000
rpm at 0.7bar
boost which is apparently when the ecu starts
interrogating the knock
sensors on the MAC 14 MC2 ECU.
I blinked out the codes which were not stored in
permanent memory on
this ECU. i got 2144 which is knock sensor 2 not
changing / open
circuit- which translates as loose KS, broken wire or
just a knackered KS.
The family lists 2 KS's for the MC2, but does not tell
me which is
which. both of mine have a brown rubber boot on the KS
end and white
connectors (inc white plugs in the loom).
Family album says that they should be brown or green
(no mention of white).
Since a KS is basically a microphone(although I'm not
about to go
strapping SM58's to the block (then the SM57 might be
a better choice
anyway))
are the 2 KS's different parts with different
thresholds / dynamic
ranges or are they both the same and just at different
locations
(listening to different cylinders)?
So far I have been unable to find the part number on
the number 2 KS.
Anyone got any idea where the PN is?
Also: can someone tell me if having 2 KS's with white
connectors is
normal and what the part number of KS2 should be?
Geraint (slightly confused again today)
