Audi parts via VW dealers

In a past life I was a parts manager for a VW
dealership. At the time we were 'discouraged' from
doing Audi parts business, but it's patently impossible to
prevent completely. Too many of the parts are common
to both makes. When they initially tried preventing
cross sales of parts from another line they charged a
small premium on Audi-specific parts that I ordered.
I explained that to the few Audi customers I had and they
didn't mind as long as I was honest and up-front about the
charges. (In fact, a number of you are still members here
at audifans.com) The other problem is they forbid
the VW dealers from returning any incorrect parts.
If I ordered it I was stuck with it. I passed that
unfortunate problem along to my customers as well.
They had to be more certain about the things they ordered
through me and I had to ask for pre-payment since some
folks will still screw you regardless of the trust you
place in them. Try talking to your VW dealer about
the situation if you really prefer to do business with
them. They might be able to help you out at a slight
increase in cost. That may still be worth it for the
increased convenience.

Good luck.

Understand this was a corporate decision by both VW
>and Audi and was
> announced within the
last month.
>
> In my case there isn't a
Audi dealer within a hours
>drive. What a PITA!
