I believe in the type 44 that the overheat switch and low coolant  
level switch are wired in parallel.

In fact, I know they are- yesterday evening the coolant alarm went  
off immediately after the car was started.   Level was a little low,  
and it switched off a minute or two later after expansion brought the  
level up.

PS:Everyone, please STOP cc'ing all the lists.  I don't know what  
possessed the original poster to CC the UrQ, 200q20v, and S-car  
lists, given this is purely a general problem with a type 44 vehicle :-)
