Sounds like a good idea.

Just remember there are two separate functions you are tracing and 
adapting - the power seats and the seat heaters.

At one level, power seats are really simple - just a big fused battery 
wire (red?) and a big fat ground wire.  What complicates things is the 
memory seat function.

The seat heater usually uses six wires (as I recall) - one power for 
sensor, sensor return, one ground, and three power wires for various 
levels of heat.

Breaking things down like this may make it easier to set up and test 
functions one at a time.
