That should make it simpler, really, since you can ignore the heat
wiring and just tuck it out of the way.
All you need for the basic power seat function at that point are the big
power and ground wires.
If the memory seat function matters to you (two regular drivers?), then
you need to trace that as well and hook it up.
As you said, an adapter made out of spare male and female connectors
would make it elegant and reversible. Obviously you can get the "old
seat side" to plug into your cars harness from your old seats, maybe you
can track down the "newer car side" from a dismantler like force five?
