The V6 is a hardy engine, and the ones I service here at the shop seem
virtually trouble free. I ALWAYS change the thermostat with the pump
and timing belt and tensioners/idlers. The first one we did, we did as
a stand alone job. Difficult, but not impossible. We went in less than
a month later and replaced the pump and belt. The pump was seizing
randomly, making a high pitched squeal (the timing belt dragging across
the stopped pulley) and causing an overheating condition. I suggest you
do the serpentine belt and it's tensioner at the dame time. You WILL
need the timing belt tools to do the job properly. Helps to have a
Bentley, too. John
